The 140-plus page book on the Vignale Gamine first provides an insight into the history of the person Alfredo Vignale and his body and car factory. Next comes the unprecedented history of the Vignale Gamine. However, we still do not know the exact number that Vignale once ticked off when the last Gamine rolled off the assembly line - even after contacting a Vignale family member - but we are getting close. Of course, we can read about how the cars ended up in the Netherlands. We found out that the Brussels importer of Vignale persuaded a Dutchman to set up the Vignale import for the Netherlands.

I got a lot of information through the help of Frans de Feijter, the son of the former Dutch importer of the brand in Zeeuws Vlaanderen. At the same time, it also becomes clearer how and why the Gamine was introduced in some other countries.

Very special is the story of Gamines sales in Germany. Based on a Gamine owned by a Flemish club member of the Fiat Club Belgio, this history could be illustrated.

 

Thanks to the careful fact-checking by Gamine drivers Theo van Stokkum and Martin Wildeboer and Archivio Vignale by Alfredo Zanellato, a good picture can be painted which makes the stories behind more than twenty Vignale Gamines driving in the Low Countries more complete.

 

Summary in English

As in the 1960s with Vignale's own information brochure, which included a translation into English after the Italian text at the back, this second edition of the Gamine Book includes an English-language appendix to reach an international audience. For this I am especially indebted to my wife Marly, who in daily life teaches that language.

 

Numerous Illustrations in full colour

In addition to a Vignale history, the new edition is also a book of Gamine drivers. All owners of the cars described in the book I am particularly grateful for the many color photos and especially their special stories. Some of these have also led to appendices in the back of the edition.

 

One copy of the book was initially printed for every driving Vignale Gamine in the Low Countries. By 2024, more than 23 Gamines are drivable in Belgium and the Netherlands. This second printing is no longer made just for them but for àll enthusiasts.

At the time, only seven new Gamines from Vignale seem to have been recorded in the Dutch RDW register.

7 is considered a lucky number. Any owner of this wonderful open Vignale will agree: Luck, this is what it feels like to drive a Vignale Gamine. But the reader of this book is also lucky to see a driving Gamine.

Il libro di oltre 140 pagine sulla Vignale Gamine in lingua olandese offre innanzitutto una panoramica sulla storia di Alfredo Vignale e della sua carrozzeria e fabbrica di automobili. Poi viene la storia mai esplorata prima della Vignale Gamine. Tuttavia, anche dopo aver contattato un membro della famiglia Vignale, non sappiamo ancora quale sia il numero esatto di Gamine uscite dalla catena di montaggio, ma ci stiamo avvicinando. Naturalmente, possiamo leggere come le auto siano finite nei Paesi Bassi. Abbiamo scoperto che l'importatore di Bruxelles di Vignale ha convinto un olandese a creare l'importazione di Vignale nei Paesi Bassi.

Più di 200 illustrazioni

Oltre a una storia di Vignale, la nuova edizione è anche un libro di piloti Gamine. Sono particolarmente grato a tutti i proprietari delle auto descritte nel libro per le numerose foto a colori e soprattutto per le loro storie speciali. Alcune di queste sono state inserite in appendici sul retro dell'edizione.

 

Inizialmente è stata stampata una copia del libro per ogni Vignale Gamine in circolazione nei Paesi Bassi. Entro il 2024, più di 23 Gamine saranno guidabili in Belgio e nei Paesi Bassi. Questa seconda edizione non è più realizzata solo per loro, ma per tutti gli appassionati.

  Vignale Gamine

Ce livre de plus de 140 pages sur la Vignale Gamine donne d'abord un aperçu de l'histoire d'Alfredo Vignale et de son usine de carrosserie et d'automobiles. Il présente ensuite l'histoire inédite de la Vignale Gamine. Même après avoir contacté un membre de la famille Vignale, nous ne connaissons pas encore le nombre exact de Gamine qui sont sorties de la chaîne de montage, mais nous nous en approchons. Bien sûr, nous pouvons lire comment les voitures sont arrivées aux Pays-Bas. Nous avons découvert que l'importateur bruxellois de Vignale a persuadé un Néerlandais de mettre en place l'importation de Vignale aux Pays-Bas.

J'ai obtenu beaucoup d'informations grâce à l'aide de Frans de Feijter, le fils de l'ancien importateur néerlandais de la marque à Zeeuws Vlaanderen. En même temps, on comprend mieux comment et pourquoi la Gamine a été introduite dans d'autres pays.

L'histoire des ventes de Gamine en Allemagne est très particulière. Cette histoire a pu être illustrée à partir d'une Gamine appartenant à un membre flamand du Fiat Club Belgio.

 

Grâce à la vérification minutieuse des faits par les conducteurs de Gamine Theo van Stokkum et Martin Wildeboer et par l'Archivio Vignale d'Alfredo Zanellato, il est possible de brosser un bon tableau qui rend plus complète l'histoire de plus de vingt Vignale Gamines circulant dans les Pays-Bas.

Le livre est écrit en néerlandais. Tous les propriétaires néerlandais de Gamine ont participé d'une manière ou d'une autre. Comme dans les années 1960 avec la brochure d'information de Vignale, qui comprenait une traduction en anglais après le texte italien au dos, cette édition du Livre de la Gamine comprend une annexe détaillée et volumineuse en anglais pour atteindre un public international. Pour cela, je suis particulièrement redevable à ma femme Marly, qui enseigne cette langue au quotidien.

 

Nombreuses illustrations en couleurs

Outre l'histoire de Vignale, cette nouvelle édition est aussi un livre sur les pilotes de Gamine. Tous les propriétaires des voitures décrites dans le livre me sont particulièrement reconnaissants pour les nombreuses photos en couleur et surtout pour leurs histoires particulières. Certaines d'entre elles ont également donné lieu à des annexes à la fin de l'édition. Je remercie Alfredo Zannelato Vignale pour l'autorisation d'utiliser certaines photos uniques.

 

Un exemplaire du livre a été initialement imprimé pour chaque Gamine Vignale conduisant dans les Pays-Bas. D'ici 2024, plus de 23 Gamines pourront être conduites en Belgique et aux Pays-Bas. Cette deuxième impression n'est plus seulement destinée à ces conducteurs, mais aussi aux amateurs de Vignale.

À l'époque, seules sept nouvelles Gamines de Vignale semblent avoir été enregistrées dans le registre RDW néerlandais.

Le chiffre 7 est considéré comme un chiffre porte-bonheur. Tous les propriétaires de cette magnifique Vignale ouverte en conviendront : La chance, c'est ce que l'on ressent au volant d'une Vignale Gamine. Mais le lecteur de ce livre a également la chance de voir une Gamine au volant.

Het ruim 140 pagina's tellende boek over de Vignale Gamine geeft allereerst inzage in de historie van de persoon Alfredo Vignale en zijn carrosserie- en autofabriek. Vervolgens komt de niet eerder zo uitgeplozen geschiedenis van de Vignale Gamine voorbij. Het getal dat Vignale echter ooit aftikte toen de laatste Gamine van de band rolde weten we - zelfs na contacten met een familielid van Vignale - nog steeds niet exact, maar we komen in de buurt. Uiteraard is te lezen hoe de wagens in Nederland terecht kwamen. We ontdekten dat de Brusselse importeur van Vignale een Nederlander overhaalde om de Vignale-import voor Nederland op te zetten.

Veel informatie kreeg ik door de hulp van Frans de Feijter, de zoon van de voormalige Nederlandse importeur van het merk in Zeeuws Vlaanderen. Tegelijk wordt ook duidelijker hoe en waarom de Gamine in enkele andere landen werd ingevoerd.

Heel bijzonder is het verhaal van de verkoop van Gamines in Duitsland. Aan de hand van een Gamine van een Vlaams clublid van de Fiat Club Belgio kon deze geschiedenis geïllustreerd worden.

 

Dankzij een zorgvuldige controle van feiten door de Gamine-rijders Theo van Stokkum en Martin Wildeboer en Archivio Vignale van Alfredo Zanellato kan een goed beeld geschetst worden waardoor de verhalen achter meer dan twintig in de Lage Landen rijdende Vignale Gamines completer worden.

 

Samenvatting in Engels

Net als in de jaren zestig bij de informatiebrochure van Vignale zelf, waar na de Italiaanse tekst achterin onder meer een vertaling in het Engels stond, is in deze tweede editie van het Gamineboek een Engelstalige bijlage opgenomen om een internationaal publiek te bereiken. Hiervoor ben ik vooral mijn echtgenote Marly, die in het dagelijkse leven die taal doceert, dank verschuldigd.

 

Veel Illustraties in full colour

Naast een Vignale-historie is de nieuwe uitgave tevens een boek van Gamine-rijders. Alle eigenaren van de in het boek beschreven auto's ben ik bijzonder dankbaar voor de vele kleurenfoto's en vooral hun bijzondere verhalen. Enkele hiervan hebben bovendien geleid tot bijlagen achterin de uitgave.

 

Voor elke rijdende Vignale Gamine in de Lage Landen is aanvankelijk één exemplaar van het boek gedrukt. In 2024 zijn er meer dan 23 Gamines in België en Nederland rijdbaar. Deze tweede druk wordt niet meer alleen voor hen maar voor àlle liefhebbers gemaakt.

In het Nederlandse RDW-register lijken destijds maar zeven nieuwe Gamines van Vignale opgenomen te zijn. 7 wordt als geluksgetal beschouwd. Elke eigenaar van deze wonderschone open Vignale zal het beamen: Geluk, zo voelt het om een Vignale Gamine te mogen rijden. Maar ook de lezer van dit boek heeft geluk bij het zien van een rijdende Gamine.
